Assignment of Benefits from 1 July 2026: What Patients Need to Know

Assignment of Benefits   From I July 2026, Medicare requires patients to provide verbal or written consent when being bulk-billed. You may receive an SMS, email, electronic form or paper form to complete, either before or after your consult. This allows Medicare to pay your rebate directly to the practice and does not affect your entitlement or cost of care.   If you do not consent, the practice is unable to submit the bulk-billing claim, and you will be charged for the service. Thank you for your cooperation.
